The largest electric public transport bus fleet in Europe
Public transport at and around Schiphol Airport has become much more environmentally friendly. There are now 49 R-net buses and 51 Schiphol buses (Hello-Goodbye) running on electricity. The number has now grown to as many as 206 electric buses.Transport region Amsterdam, Connexxion and Schiphol present the largest electric bus fleet in Europe. Technical trivia
- The buses produced by VDL are 18 metres long and - depending on the exact type - can accommodate up to 91 or 119 passengers.
- They run 24 hours a day and have a battery capacity of 170 kWh.
- The range of a bus with a full battery is a maximum of 80 kilometres at a consumption of 2 kWh per kilometre.
- The buses are charged by fast and slow chargers. Fast charging is possible with 450kWh and takes a maximum of 15 to 25 minutes. Slow charging is 30kWh and takes between 4 and 5 hours.
- Charging is now done at Schiphol P30, junction Schiphol Npoord, on the Cateringweg at Schiphol and in Amstelveen. In the future, there will be more charging stations in Haarlem and Schiphol Zuid.
